The Portable Arabian Nights

The Thousand and One Nights
edited by Joseph Campbell

Campbell took the nine volumes of the 1880s John Payne translation and edited it down to a single volume, chiefly by providing synopses of many of the tales. It has been re-published by the Joseph Campbell Foundation with a new title. I'm not sure how this one relates to the 1952 version, but this ebook is what you'll see today on Amazon.

Table of Contents

[Note: The "nested" arrangement of the book often makes the stories hard to read; even the Table of Contents was hard to work with! I cannot be sure this reflects the original 100%; I'll have to wait until I read the book and check it first hand!]
